03-10-10 Larry the Cable Guy is a well-known stand up comedian and actor born February 17, 1963. Daniel Whitney, Larry the Cable Guy real name, spent his early childhood in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He later moved to Florida at the age of 16, where he began to do stand up comedy with other West Beach locals. He then continued to do small gigs in nightclubs and began doing radio comedy, in which he would call into a radio station pretending to be a certain character. In fact, the name Larry the Cable Guy originated after a friend from one of the stations asked him to call in pretending to be a cable installer. Whitney started a career in radio disc jockey, but continued to perfect his Larry character, which in fact launched him to stardom. The Larry character is a stereotypical red neck who’s jokes center around family origins. Larry the Cable Guy is also famous for his catch phrase “Git-R-Done”. Larry the Cable Guy has been featured in music videos, such as Gretchen Wilson’s “All Jacked Up” and starred in films such as Larry the Cable Guy; Health Inspector, Cars, and animated voice in The Fox and the Hound 2. Larry the Cable Guy has also found success in his two comedy albums Lord I apologize and The Right to Bare Arms, which have both been certified. His most recent album entitled Morning Constitutions was released in 2007.
